I'm an AUNT!!!!!!!!

It's offical. This is the first child in the family that has been born after Peter and I got married! I mean I do have 3 other niece's and nephews from the Abrigg's, but this one is really special!!!
Meet Layla-Grayce Hickman! I'll have to take credit for that name. Actually, I'm going to have to give Sunni credit. I went to a website on her page that had that name! Anyways Sunni, Ashlee says thanks!
Her sister Henslee is VERY proud! I cannot WAIT to go meet her on Saturday morning! I am just ITCHING to get there! :) Congrats Ashlee, Scott and Henslee! :)

4th of July and more...

Well, is it just me or did yesterday feel like Monday?
It was crazy! I seriously thought all day it was Monday. Hmm, seems I was mistaken.

We had a great 4th of July. Tuesday night Natasha and Thomas came over on Tuesday night. We got to hear all about their honeymoon to Hawaii. We sat out on the balcony and low and behold, FIREWORKS right in front of our eyes! We had the perfect seat! They were shooting the at the local park which happens to be down the street from our apartments. We then watched a movie, but I fell asleep. What else is new?
Wednesday we woke up and decided it would be cool to run to the local L.A. Fitness. Mistake on our parts as the mosquitos had a hay day on the back of my legs and arms. It was like they were following me! We worked out pretty hard. I made Peter run back and get the car to come get me afterwards. I did'nt need to get eaten again. Afterall, I had about 30 from the weekend and the run combined. I hate mosquitos, but they LOVVVVVE me. After that we made our condiments tray and headed over to our small group pool party and cookout. The weather was beautiful. I have a nice sunburn to prove it. My upper chest and upper back are a nice magenta color. We played hours of water volleyball and ate some glorious hamburgers and hotdogs! YUM!
After we were tired of the sun we headed over to Bahama Bucks while the guys played poker. I was BEAT. I was asleep by 9. I woke up with a horrible sunburn headache around midnight and it has still not gone away. It's Friday might I add.

Peter and I will just take it easy this weekend. I need to catch up on my housework. We do have a wedding to go to tomorrow, but other than that, I'm looking forward to getting our apartment deep cleaned.

The job front is going well. We were actually extremely busy yesterday oddly enough. It made for a fast day.

Gateway Getaway

Meet Charlie

Well, Charlie is semi back into our lives and we are thrilled! Charlie is Peter's dog he had when he lived in a house. He had to give her to some of his friends who have 2 kids for the past year and half. But, due to unfortunate events, they were going to have to give her away. WE got first dibs. So, we thought about it LONG and hard. We had no choice but to take her, but we knew she would be miserable in our 750 square foot of fun. So, I called my parents. hahaha...and they said yes! So, Peter picked Charlie up and we drove to Abilene. It took us 4 miserable hours due to rain, traffice, construction and wrecks. But, we made it and now Charlie has 3 friends. Well, sort of friends. Here is Charlie and Belle, our black lab. There might be some of Sally, my parents German Short-Haired Pointer.

Macy, one of my roommates from college had sweet baby Meg on June 27th! Too bad Meg didn't appear on my birthday! :) At least we'll get to celebrate a day apart!
She was born at 6:47pm, I think, and weighed 7lbs 8oz at 19inches. She has a head full of dark, silky hair and beautiful lips! She's a looker just like her momma and daddy! Congrats Macy and Chad! I love you guys. :)

One Year Older

Really?
It's crazy to me that I am 27 and it just came and went like the flip of a light switch! Unbelievable.
Yesterday was good. I went to work. The usual. Ate lunch with Peter at 7 Salsas.
Then I went to get my allergy shot, which ended up being 2 shots. Apparently I can't handle all of it in one arm. Last week, my arm was swollen. Gross. Then I went shopping at the Southlake Town Center. Found nothing. Back to work I went. Worked in the pouring down rain for the rest of the day. I then met Peter, my dad, Sarah and Daniel at The Cheesecake Factory for dinner. YUM. I had strawberry shortcake for dessert. It was amazing. They all sang to me. Quite humiliating. Then, we went home and went to bed. I guess birthday's aren't near as fun once you get older. ;)

We decided to buy a grill for my birthday. I was going to get a new pair of jeans, but I decided we needed a grill more. Sunday night we had steak, sweet potatoes and asparagus. YUM. Monday night we grilled hamburgers. YUM. So, tonight it's chicken, corn on the cob and salad. I was trying to eat healthy and then my birthday crept up. :) I guess that means I have to do extra cardio today at lunch.

Speaking of working, I have found a new passion. It's been fun. I work out during my 3 hour break. Good ole LA Fitness is treating me well. :) It's not your Lifetime or anything, but it's good for me, for now.

Anyways, I'm out of things to say.

Working Girl

I'm not going to lie, the last 6 months have been fantastic. I think I'll be a great stay-at-home-mom. These hours are weird. I will say I'm excited about working out at a gym! I have no excuse now not to go. The only bummer is, no gym has classes between the hours of 12-3. Hmm. I guess it's just going to be me and the machines. I'm sure they'll be kicking my butt. Yesterday was my first day at LA Fitness. My doctor says it's like going to a bar. Everyone just hangs out and chit chats in groups of four. I'm like? Stop staring and workout! So, I just ignore everyone. That's probably rude, but it's a LARGE gym. I'm not used to such a large gym. Yesterday I went to workout and then headed over to Brianna's house for lunch and rest time. I really didn't rest. I held sweet Evan! The other two chitlins were asleep! NAPTIME! I wish I was napping right now. Is it just me or am I always sleepy when it's 100 degrees outside.

I got my allergy shot today. When I was getting up to leave I almost passed out. It was actually funny this time. I just got light headed. I wish my body would go back to normal. Thanks to the lovely BC, I'm ALL screwed up!
Speaking of health issues. I got a call from my nurse last week and she said they had my Holter monitor results. I asked her if it was urgent? She said no, not at all, but that I needed to schedule a time to come in and review them. That means another co-pay in their minds! Ugh! Why can't they just tell me over the phone! I now know it was for sure hormonal. Sorry if your a boy and you are reading this. Again, stupid BC.

Peter and I had a great weekend. Friday night we went with 2 couples from our small group to La Madeline. I had half a sandwich and some tomato basil soup! YUM! WE sat there for over 3 hours giggling at each other! Saturday morning we woke up early and drove to A-town to visit the folks and to Laura and Laney's baby shower. Good times I tell ya! My mom decided we should celebrate my birthday a week and half early! I obliged. We ate some great McKay's bakery cake! I actually had 2 pieces on Saturday and 1 on Sunday. The one on Sunday was actually from my sister's cake. Hahah, yup, we celebrated hers too.
Sunday, we celebrated Father's Day. My mom's whole side of the family came in for some of her home cooking! My grandmother requested that we have Turkey and Dressing. Thankfully, I was not hungry AT ALL so I did not stuff my face. We then looked at Sarah's Africa pics. IT makes me want to go and hug on some kids!! We had every intention of coming back to Dallas for Kristen's wedding, but the family time could not be interrpted. Cassy sent us this pitiful picture of her and chad sitting at "the roommate" table all alone! I'm embarrassed. Kristen, if you are reading this, I'm sorry. WE were trying to juggle 2 families! I have no excuses. I know you were beautiful.
This weekend is Natasha and Thomas' wedding! It should be a fun-filled weekend! I thankfully only have to work a half day on Friday! Praise-a-lujah!!! They, thankfully, will be living in the apartment complex next to us! PRaise-a-lujah again!!!

Well, I'm done. I'm bored because we have no patients. If you need a chiropractor, you know my number! :) I just got my first one today. It was crazy! No lie, I already feel looser! Is that a word?

I think I'm going crazy..........

Well, it's my 3rd day on the job, or training anyways. :) It's been fun. I'm not at the actual office that I will be working. Apparently it will be boring compared to the things I've been doing this week.

Well, as we speak I'm wearing this weird heart monitor. I'm not real sure what it's called, but it's very inconvenient. I think it's called a Holter Monitor. Anyways, it monitors my heart for 24 hours. Why you say? Well, since Friday, I've been having these weird heart flutters! They've been pretty consistent since then. So, yesterday on my break, I went to the doctor. I had to get an EKG and x-rays. Those turned out normal, so now he's monitoring my heart. I get to give it back at 2:18pm today! Let me just tell you, I'm ready. I wasn't allowed to take a shower and I even had to sleep in it. All of the patients at the office today were asking me what was wrong. I told them it was jewelry. I've been blowing it off as if it's not a big deal, but it's really been bothering me. I think when you're heart isn't acting the way it is supposed to be, it causes more anxiety! So, of course my blood pressure was high yesterday because I was FREAKED OUT!
So, I guess just pray that it's nothing serious and that it will GO AWAY!
It hasn't come at the most opportune time! OH well.

So, I'm semi getting used to working 9-12 and 3-7. I've slept for 10 hours the last 2 nights! :) I've been exhausted. I haven't been a very good wife either! Monday I napped because I didn't feel well. THe heart issue was causing some really bad dizziness. I know, weird. But, thankfully, I don't have that today.
Anyways, so groceries were just bought yesterday evening. Sorry Peter!
We'll have to get used to this schedule!!

THis past weekend I attended a ton of events! :) Friday, Peter and I drove to Wichita Falls to stay with Ashlee and Scott. She thought we were coming for an eary Father's Day. We lied. Instead we were coming for a surprise baby shower for her and Layla Grace! She will be induced on July 17th! I am VERY excited!
They have the most amazing dog! It's a Labradoodle!!!! Duncan is his name. He reminds me of a Sesame Street character!

Well, I'm a dufus. It seems as if a couple of posts ago, I thought the momma was carrying off the egg on accident. Stupid me....There are not 2 babies in 1 egg! She was just cleaning out the nest! It looks as if both babies survived! And here the are a couple of days after their birth. I caught them just in time for momma and daddy to make the switch. It's been interesting watching them feed the babies. Basically the babies just put their beaks in the momma's mouth and she regurgitates. The more I watched it the more I got a little sick to my stomach.

Here's what we saw outside our window last night. I was actually stuck in Walmart during the torential down pour! The lights were even flicking on and off! SCARY!

These next pictures are from today. Our neighbor upstairs owns two Visla dogs! They are BEAUTIFUL! I met them the day before my wedding. My dad and I were attempting to move our table and Brian and the Visla's came out. The big one seen in the last picture is Jack. He's HUGE. And, the puppy, who is big now is Winnie short for Winchester. Winnie was just a little bittie puppy when I met her and it was love at first sight! I see them every morning on the balcony. Today Brian left me the key to his apartment and I went up and got them to play! I brought them down to the apartment. It was hilarious! They both were fighting for my affection. BABY BIRDS!

Well, it finally hatched. I just walked outside to throw some roast over the balcony for the ducks and such and looked over and say it's head peeking out from underneath it's momma! Earlier we were eating lunch and it looked like she was pecking at something! Little did I know!!!!!! Baby Bird! I am mourning the death of Baby Bird #2. It's official. I walked outside and found the egg. It looked as if some creature had sucked it's body out of the egg. Sorry for the vulgarity.

We went up to the hospital to see Mallory, Jason and Kai on Friday night. But, before that, I spent the day with Brittney and Quinn. I loved holding him while we were shopping. He is such a sweet, sweet baby. Again, as Brittney said, I'm not sure why we didn't take a pic. Quinn and I were both wearing sear sucker britches!
After the hospital Peter and I met up with Rachel and Craig at Northpark for a movie. I'm embarrassed to say that we say Knocked Up. Funny, but absolutley inappropriate in ALL WAYS possible. If you're pregnant, you probably shoudln't go see it. :)
Saturday morning we woke up bright and early to hit the lake with Michael and Kristi!
We wake boarded and wake surfed all day! So, needless to say Peter and I are EXTREMELY SORE! The right side of my body is killing me. We tried running earlier but just couldn't do it! After running we finished a nice lunch of roast, carrots, potatoes and onions. It's definitley on of our favorite meals.

Well, I had my interview on Tuesday morning. It went very well. I don't really remember much about it, because the doctor that owns all 4 offices talks alot! It was all infromational but a little overwhelming. :)

(side note - watching the news about "the Hot Coffee Robber." WHAT? Seriously, GET A JOB AND STOP STEALING MONEY!)

On to the rest of the story. So, I left the Tuesday interview feeling pretty good. He told me I was basically overqualified for 1 of the 2 positions. He told me I wouldn't get paid enough for my qualifications. I thought that was pretty great of him to say. So, they called me on Tuesday night and asked me to go to the "office I would be working" and meet the doctor. I'm going to go ahead and keep that part silent via blog.

(side note again - So I was just watching the doves's switch places and one of the eggs STUCK to the bottom of the mom when she flew away! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!) I immediately went outside and looked over the balcony, but I think I'm going to have to go look again! It was terrible! Donald Dove was so confused and watched the whole thing happen! Isn't that just terrible!!! My heart hurts!)

Anyways, so I went and met the doctor. We clicked immediately. The drive was only 25 minutes, which isn't that good, but okay. I'm used to driving more. So, last night, Thursday, I got a call from the office offering me the JOB!!! YEAAAAHHH!! I have to go to the staff meeting on Monday, but I don't offically start until the 11th. Yes.....one more week of summer. hahaha. So, praise the Lord!
My life is about to change! I haven't had a "real" job since November, and even then, that wasn't a "real" job. So, business professional dress here I come! YUK! I guess that means I'll probably have to go shopping. Peter???? My birthday is this month!!!! hahaa....

Well, my heart is still hurting from that dove egg. What is wrong with me!? A dove egg???? i mean it's been on my balcony for over 2 weeks. Wouldn't you be attached too!

Moving on....I've been running. Aren't you proud!! Last week I managed to get 5 runs in. I couldn't believe it! I finished the week off on Saturday morning running with Peter at our favorite park. I told him that I needed to set the pace. He's a FAST runner. So, he let me set the pace and we managed to run for almost 45 minutes. I was proud! I've never been able to run longer than 10 minutes with him. I'm always feeling as if I am in a race. My side starts cramping and it's just miserable. He was such a good sport! He even said he got a good workout! Although I'm sure he would have rather run faster.

I get to have a playdate with Quinn and Brittney today! I am so excited! Speaking of babies, our friend Mallory was induced this morning! Sweet Malakai will be here any time now! We basically have babies due every month until the end of the year. Mallory and Julie this month, Macy next month, Ashlee, Peter's sis, in August, Cassy next in October. Whew! BABIES EVERYWHERE!

Memorial Day....was great! I had to sing all weekend so we didn't see each other much. Although we managed to have dinner with my mom, sis and Daniel on Saturday night at Babe's. Funny story from there. We sit down at our table and I recognize this waitress at the table next to us. I figure out it's the girl that was most disrespectful to me during my substitute career over these past 5 months. She asked me if she could go to the bathroom, and being the mean person I am, I said no. Why you say? Because the principals left this large note by the sign in sheet saying not to let anyone go unless it was an emergency. Apparently there had been a drug problem or something. So, I try to kindly explain to this girl that I'm not just bein a jerk. She then proceeds to ask me if she can just leave. I just stared and said,"well, I'm not going to stop you, but that's pretty disrespectful if you ask me." She then turns to the class and yells," it's okay if you guys need to go to the bathroom. You can just leave." My blood started boiling, but I was not going to fight with her. It was not worth it! Anyways, she ended up being our waitress. I kept thinking, Kill her with Kindness! It was hard, but she even got a good tip!
Then Sunday for lunch, we went to Salt Grass with my whole family. It was my sister's goodbye lunch before she left for Africa. She is there and having the time of her life! This week was spent vacationing. She's ridden an elephant, gone on a cruise and a safari and hung out with zebra's in her front yard. Why didn't I go??? ughg.

Well, I'm leaving to go rescue the dove egg.
